Ask DST #436 - Marvel, Star Wars, Sonic, and More!

It’s a new Ask DST, and this week Diamond Select Toys and Gentle Giant Ltd. president DSTChuck is answering your questions about a whole bunch of topics! Jackson S.: Hello I was just wondering about that nova statue that was revealed couple years ago is that coming out or is it out already and do you have a date when it will be out? 

DSTChuck: The Nova Gallery has recently been presented for pre-orders. 

Scott P.: Will Robby the Robot ever hit the shelves? If so,when? 

DSTChuck: I think the chances are not good at this point but we’re going to see if it can still happen.

Jake P.: I noticed no Sith & Jedi Holocrons for Star Wars yet, any idea if ya gonna make them or not?

DSTChuck: There are not any in the works at this time, and if we did want to do one , I am not sure the license would allow that. We would have to ask. 

Vojta M.: Hi. a while ago you announced really cool figures of classic Sonic and Knuckles in Genesis style boxes and I wanna ask if they're still in development because we haven't seen anything of them since the reveal. Thanks. :) 

DSTChuck: YES they are still in active development. 

Jose R.: I just wanted to say that I've been a huge fan of your gallery line and I'm wondering why you haven't made more 90's X-Men gallery yet. I loved the ones that have come out so far, but I want more. I'd love to see the 90's X-Men busts turned into gallery figures. It would be nice to finally own a figure of Jean Grey that isn't the phoenix. Also, what happened to longshot? One moment he's up for pre-order and the next it's like he never existed. I was really looking forward to getting him. Lastly, I just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to the release of your G.I. Joe gallery figures and I hope to see more in the future. I already have Destro and snake eyes on my pre-order list and I can't wait to add them to my collection. Keep up the good work. I'm really loving your works of art. 

DSTChuck: Glad you like the 90’s X-Men stuff, I do too. The Marvel Universe is MASSIVE and there is no way we can make everyone happy ALL the time, or focus on everything. We’re very happy to be working on the bust and it simply does not make sense for us to be marketing the bust AND Galley at the SAME time. Once the bust line is completed , we could easily look into trying Gallery. I think the Longshot was solicited at just the wrong time and we did not have enough interest at that time to go forward. Yes more Joe Gallery are in active development.

Roger: Hi, when are you guys releasing invincible statues? 

DSTChuck: At this time we are just focusing on the action figures. 

Dave C.: Will you be producing marvel select figures for the eternals movie? 

DSTChuck: I am sorry we are not. 

Gabriel: With last year’s re-release of Marvel Select The Thing and the recent release of Marvel Select Human Torch action figures, should we also expect Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman to complete the team.

DSTChuck: I agree that would make sense… 

Nick P.: Exciting news that DST's partnership with Hasbro continues to grow with Power Rangers. Is there a chance we will see Selects from Power Rangers or other Hasbro properties? 

DSTChuck: Sadly we are not able to make action figures for the Hasbro licensed properties.
