06/13/2022
It's Monday and another Ask DST is here! Diamond Select Toys' and Gentle Giant, Ltd.'s president, DSTChuck, is here to answer your burning questions, this time with an update on several popular action figure lines like Muppets and Lord of the Rings. Have a question of your own? Submit them here and check back bi-weekly for an update. Read on to find out what DSTChuck has to say about JCVD, Lord of the Rings, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and more!
Adrian C.: Is the Fantastic Four going to arrive this year?
DSTChuck: We are working on several FF projects across many of our platforms, including Select, Premier Collection and Legends in 3D. At this point, any pre-orders that open this year will ship next year.
Terry C.: Are you going to release more characters from The Lord of the Rings line? Lady Galadriel, Elrond or more Hobbits?
DSTChuck: Yes, we have more action figures planned for the movies, and several are in active development.
Mathew D.: Are you going to release new Star Trek starships?
DSTChuck: Work is at a pause right now, but we are working to get the ship projects moving again and will update everyone as soon as we have something new to report.
Adam F.: Is there any chance that we might see more Muppets, at least Pepe, after the new Sam and Rizzo start to hit? Love these figures and I’ll all in on this line of it keeps going!
DSTChuck: We would like to do more Muppets items and are discussing that with Disney right now.
Rowan P.: When will we get a Marvel Select Galactus figure?
DSTChuck: We do not have a Galactus figure planned at this time.
Andrew G.: What kind of deluxe figures of Jean Claude Van Damme are you making? Cause it would be nice to get good ones to go with my Neca figures of Stallone and Schwarzenegger, Kurt Russell, Harrison Ford, Dolph Lundgren, etc., from their movies. Also it would be cool to see Van Damme opposite your John wick figures.
DSTChuck: We are developing several 7” scale JCVD figures – if all goes well we might be able to show them at SDCC.
Tom A.: What is the situation with the Invader Zim figures? When will series 1 hit and would there be a potential series 2?
DSTChuck: Unfortunately, we have hit a production issue with the figures. The legs and arms are so skinny, we have had trouble tooling and manufacturing them. We are working through all that now and hopefully we will have some good news for everyone soon.
Raymond V.: Any plan of doing Mai, Tylee and Suki of Avatar, before ending the figure series?
DSTChuck: We have not planned our next series yet, hopefully we will sit down with the team and Nick soon to discuss the sales and what characters would work best going forward. We do have several more Gallery in development.
